A Century of Gentle Seasons, A History of Novato This video was created as “a small tribute to a great city.” It is one history in a town rich with captivating characters that shaped its landscape in the past, and continues to do so today. It’s a fun, fast paced, informative and entertaining peek into what makes Novato so unique, community centric, and slightly eccentric, filled with little known facts such as Novato’s place in bootlegging during prohibition, and the scene of a duel gone scaredy cat, with renegade John Fremont and frontiersman Kit Carson. It includes anecdotes from Yvette Jackson, lifelong Novato resident, board member and docent at the Novato Historical Society; Herb Rowland, great, great grandson of Ignacio Pacheco, one of California’s earliest pioneers, and owner of Pacheco Ranch Winery; Louise Koenig, lifelong resident and Novato Unified School District teacher, principal and administrator; Coy Smith, Novato Chamber of Commerce, CEO; Jeanne MacLeamy, architect and City Council member; Marin County Supervisor, Judy Arnold, and her husband, renown musician Bruce Arnold; Dennis Hagerty, Novato businessman and longtime community volunteer; Marin Humane Society Board Member Elaine Sichel; Donna Mettier, Novato Library Branch Manager; Circle Bank President and CEO, Kim Kaselionis, plus representatives from the Novato Horsemen Association, the Novato Fire Foundation, and scores of others. (Look closely, you might see yourself walking the streets during the Art & Wine festival, marching in the 4th of July Parade, or one of the many other events showcased!) In time for the Novato 50th Birthday Bash in 2010, Zan Media will be producing the sequel to this video and seeks more citizens to send their stories and photos for inclusion to [email protected] or call (415) 897-8393. $5.00 will be donated to School Fuel, The Novato Foundation for Public Education, for each Novato History DVD purchased on this website. » NEW!
